About VegZED
What is VegZED?
VegZED is a Social Enterprise to improve access to fresh and local
fruit, vegetables and other foods to residents and workers in the London Borough
of Sutton.
What are VegZED's aims?
Why don't you supply organic produce?
Unfortunately it is difficult to find a supply of organic produce that is
relatively local, a wide enough variety and affordable, so we try to source
our produce as sustainably as possible. Our vegetables are not organic but
are unsprayed, seasonal and grown within 100 miles of London. Some produce
is grown in glasshouses to extend the season but none are heated.
What other products can you supply?
We also supply fresh free-range eggs from Ted's Veg, as well as dried herbs
home-grown near Hackbridge! We hope to supply a wider range of foods very
soon, such as free-range meat and dairy, fresh bread, beverages, dry goods,
wholefoods, green cleaning products, green toiletries, depending on demand
and availability.
What are VegZED's plans for the future?
We are planning to open more weekly markets in locations where there
is a need, and expand our bicycle trailer delivery service for fruit and vegetable
bags into a wider area, so that more residents will have to access fresh,
affordable, local produce.
How is VegZED funded?
We have recently been awarded start-up funding from UnLtd
to develop our project. We are a social enterprise and all profits are re-invested.
Who do you work with?
We will be operating the home deliveries with the help of EcoLocal
Deliveries which is a social enterprise. All their profits after investment
in the business are donated to the EcoLocal
charity. By using their service you are making a contribution to local environmental
projects and helping reduce climate change.
Your feedback is important!
